Chatillon-sur-Seine

Chatillon-sur-Seine in the Côte d’Or region, is a small town with charm where the River Seine is just a gentle trickle which weaves its way through the town. The local Musée Municipal in the Rue de Bourg, holds a facinating collection of 6th Century BC artifacts including Gold, Silver and Bronze pieces thought to have been the burial accoutrements of a Gallic Princess.

It was the First World War base of French commander Joffre and from where his soldiers drove back the enemy advance. The Town suffered again in the Second World War when its centre was destroyed by fire after a heavy bombing raid.
