Bordelais

The Bordelais covers a large area, well beyond the confines of Bordeaux itself. 'Bordelais' also refers to local menu items which include grapes or wine in either the food or the sauce.

The cuisine is International / classic and there are many of ethnic restaurants to choose from. Sea-food dominates local menus, particularly oysters and mussels when in season. Oysters are also a Christmas speciality and most French families will serve them on Christmas eve.

Being so close to the rivers, the sea and Périgord means there is an abundant supply of Foie Gras, Truffles (in season) and plenty of fresh water fish.

There are no cheeses of note from around Bordeaux itself, but many are imported from other regions.
