St. Émilion

The views from the top of the town are spectacular, overlooking quaint houses to the vineyards in every direction. Parking is not easy in this hilly town, but finding space is well worth the trouble. St Émilion has lead a chequered life and seen many bloody battles between not just the French and English, but also Catholics and Huguenots. A well-preserved ‘touristy’ town, it has much to see.
