The historic and tranquil hill-top village of Villefranche de Lonchat is just 15 minutes drive from St Emilion. It has two churches, a museum, a well stocked village shop, baker, chemist and bars. Nearby is Lac de Gurçon where one can swim from a sandy beach, windsurf, hire a pedalo and visit several bars and restaurants. There are tennis courts and riding stables.

It is also less than an hour's drive from Bergerac on the River Dordogne. Bergerac boasts a fine collection of old merchants' houses and a statue in honour of its famous son Cyrano de Bergerac.

Le Châtaignier is a charming 2 bedroom stone cottage which sleeps 4 people comfortably. The entrance Hall has exposed stone walls and original beams. The Living Room retains its original fireplace, tiled floors and views into the garden. A comfortable environment in which to sit, read, relax, watch a video of your choice or listen to music.

The kitchen is 'farmhouse style' with large fireplace, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, large fridge freezer, oven and hob, and double-sink. The view from the kitchen window is not to be missed. There are plenty of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and most importantly, glasses for sampling the local wine

The master bedroom is en suite with bath and shower, toilet and wash-basin. There is a wrought-iron double bed and solid oak antique furniture and tastefully exposed stone-walls. The twin-bedroom is also en-suite with shower, toilet, wash-basin. Again, the exposed stone walls create a traditional French atmosphere and help maintain a cool climate.

There is a secure and private rear courtyard creating a sun-strap and peaceful retreat - the perfect place for a quiet evening meal. The front terrace garden is also private and secure. There are well-established trees, a working water pump and patio areas both around the 8m x 5m shaped pool. Tables, chairs, and a BBQ are shaded by magnificent horse-chestnut tree.

There is an automatic watering system installed but the owners will discreetly go about the business of keeping everything perfect and maintaining the pool. Bicycles provided free of charge.
