Marican is a charming country house offering both bed and breakfast (chambre d'hote) with evening meals, and gites. The gite is a superb converted barn which offers the choice of full self-catering or can include meals in the main house.

Situated in a beautiful, unspoilt region of the Tarn in Southern France, the Parc Naturel Regional du Haut-Languedoc is accessible from the house with extensive marked trails which are suitable both for the serious walker and those who prefer a gentle meander. The Medieval City of Carcassonne is a 35-mile drive away and there are daily Ryanair flights from Stanstead.
   
Mediterranean beaches are about one hour's drive and the vineyards of Minervois, St Chinian and Gaillac are all within easy reach. The historic Towns and Cities of Albi, Bezier and Castres are close by and the Space City of Toulouse with Blagnac Airport offering flights to UK Regional Airports is around 90 minutes drive.
The property itself is in delightful and spacious south facing parkland and has superb views of the Montagne Noire. There are 2 swimming pools (maintained daily), one 20m x 8m suitable for swimmers plus a smaller pool where children can play in safety.
 
A hideaway can be found to just sit and stare or read and recharge the batteries in the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful gardens. Once rested there are numerous activities close by including Golf at La Barauge Golf Club, cycling, walking, horse riding, canoeing and carting, wine tasting, in fact something for everyone.
   
In the evenings, John and Kate Orr offer a relaxed, superb four course dinner using fresh local produce. In the summer months dinner is taken outdoors under the stars gazing down onto the twinkling lights of Mazamet. Dinner begins around eight with an aperitif discussing the days events and which includes a carafe of the house Minervoir wine.
