Wine lovers heading for France to buy direct from vineyards can now choose from some 400 wines before they leave home. On-line vineyard directory WineDrive, has added the Alsace region to its lists from Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, Champagne and Burgundy bringing the total number of vineyards to 68.
Said managing director, David Spokes: "Adding Alsace brings WineDrive a step nearer to being the most complete on-line reference for anyone who wants to visit vineyards. It is the only website which identifies quality vineyards in France and gives the tourist directions to find them. Wine lovers can read about the producer, study the wine lists and print off directions before they leave home."
All the Alsace vineyards have rejected use of agricultural chemicals preferring to work with nature. They bring the proportion of biodynamic vineyards listed by WineDrive to almost 40%.
